Works alongside your oncology care

When HRT isn't an option

After breast cancer, relief shouldn't be off the table too

More than four million women in the US are living after a breast cancer diagnosis. For most, systemic hormone therapy is contraindicated, and the endocrine therapies that protect against recurrence, like tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors, commonly cause or intensify hot flashes. Over half of women on tamoxifen report them.⁴

Clinical guidelines point to non-hormonal care first. Clinical hypnosis is one of the few non-drug options with randomized-trial evidence in breast cancer survivors specifically: a 68% reduction in hot flash scores over five weeks.² Evia puts that method in your pocket. Hormone-free, drug-free, and designed to work alongside your oncology care, never instead of it.

How Evia works.

  1. Start your program

A short assessment checks Evia is right for you, then your five-week program begins.

  2. Practice daily

One 15-minute audio session a day, at home, with a quick diary entry after.

  3. See it work

Track hot flashes and night sweats week by week, and keep access after week five.

  4. Take your nights back

Sleep through the night, dress for the day, and make plans with confidence.

Calm the thermostat driving your hot flashes

As estrogen falls, the hypothalamus, your body's thermostat, becomes hypersensitive. Hypnotherapy helps you practice a calmer response to the false alarms it fires.

  • A small trigger warms you up
  • Your brain overreacts to the shift
  • The flash you feel is real

Retrain the thermostat

Through hypnotherapy, you can calm an oversensitive alarm and change how those signals are felt.

Cooler days.
Calmer nights.

When flashes take up less space in your day, and your night, there's more room for everything else.

The researcher behind Evia

Dr. Gary Elkins directs the Mind-Body Medicine Research Laboratory at Baylor University and is one of the leading researchers in clinical hypnosis for menopausal symptoms.

His lab ran the randomized controlled trials of hypnosis for hot flashes, including in breast cancer survivors, and Evia adapts that protocol for the app.¹ ²

In his NIH-funded randomized trial, clinical hypnosis reduced hot flash frequency by 74% at 12-week follow-up¹

Frequently asked questions

Does Evia actually work? What's the evidence?

The method Evia is built on has a substantial track record: therapist-delivered clinical hypnosis reduced hot flash frequency by 74% in a randomized trial of 187 postmenopausal women¹, and reduced hot flash scores by 68% in a randomized trial with breast cancer survivors². Clinical hypnosis is one of the non-hormonal options recommended in The Menopause Society's 2023 position statement³.

The app itself has published real-world evidence: in an analysis of 410 Evia users, women self-reported 45 to 61% fewer hot flashes over the program.⁵

I've had breast cancer. Can I use Evia?

Evia is hormone-free and drug-free, which is exactly why it was designed with breast cancer patients and survivors in mind. Hot flashes are one of the most common side effects of tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors, and systemic hormone therapy is generally contraindicated after a hormone-receptor-positive cancer. Because it isn't a drug, it also can't interfere with tamoxifen the way paroxetine and fluoxetine (two antidepressants sometimes prescribed for hot flashes) can. Others, like venlafaxine, are considered compatible; your oncologist will know what fits your situation.

Evia doesn't treat cancer or replace any part of your oncology care, and you shouldn't change any prescribed treatment because of it. Tell your care team you're using it so they can factor it into your plan. And one thing worth saying plainly: new, changing, or unexplained symptoms deserve a medical evaluation before you put them down to menopause, especially with a cancer history.

Is Evia a replacement for HRT?

No, and it doesn't need to be. HRT remains an effective option that many women choose with their doctor. Evia exists for the moments HRT isn't on the table: a history of hormone-sensitive cancer or blood clots, other contraindications, or a personal preference to stay hormone-free. It can also sit alongside other care you're receiving.

What's actually in the program?

Five weeks of short daily audio hypnotherapy sessions (about 15 minutes) developed by Dr. Gary Elkins' lab at Baylor University, plus brief daily readings that explain what's happening in your body, a hot flash and night sweat diary to track your trend, and bonus sleep sessions. After the core program, maintenance sessions help you keep your results.

What does Evia cost?

Evia starts with a 7-day free trial via our website, so you can try the full program before paying anything. After that it's a subscription, and if you finish the 5-week program and don't feel it's helped you manage your symptoms, email support for a full refund.

Is Evia a medical treatment?

No. Evia is a self-guided wellness program designed to help you self-manage menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. It is not a medical device, doesn't diagnose or treat any disease, and doesn't replace care from your doctor or oncology team.
